Konno Tobari is creating Echoes of the Flame, a story-focused RPG where you take turns battling. It’s coming to PC (via Steam) in Japan later this year, and an English version is planned for 2027.
English translation work will start after the game launches in Japan, which is expected between November and December. Echoes of the Flame tells its story by switching between two groups of three characters – one traveling from the West and the other from the East – as they journey towards a common goal. Players will discover keywords while exploring, which will unlock more background information and side quests. The game’s Steam page, released today, also details how Generative AI was utilized in development.
We use generative AI to quickly create initial versions of images for things like character portraits, enemies, and the game’s user interface. However, these AI-generated images aren’t used directly in the game. Our artists refine them through manual work like retouching and animation to ensure they meet our quality standards.
