Everyone’s been expecting Starfield to come to PlayStation 5 for a while, and it looks like an official announcement is finally on the way. Bethesda has said they’ll share Starfield news next week, and recent leaks are pointing to a specific release date.
A Reddit user, Sensitive-Pride-3507, spotted a listing for Starfield on a Romanian website that says the game will come out on April 7, 2026. This date lines up with one found by another Reddit user, cocas02, on a Portuguese site a day before, and also matches rumors that have been circulating this month. If this information is accurate, pre-orders for the PS5 version of Starfield could begin next week.
Starfield Might Come To PS5 On April 7
Just Around The Corner
It’s understandable to be surprised that a Starfield release on PS5 seems to be happening soon, after a long wait. However, it actually makes sense – Bethesda rarely announces ports very early. The recent, unexpected release of The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered shows they might prefer to announce ports close to their launch, and this could be their strategy going forward.
So, remember that leak about Starfield possibly coming to PS5? Well, the same person who shared the release date also gave us an idea of how much it might cost. Apparently, the regular version will be around $49.99, and the Premium Edition will be $69.99. It’s pretty much the same pricing as Oblivion Remastered – they had a standard edition for $49.99 and a Deluxe version for $59.99.
One Giant Leap For Starfield
This Could Be Good For Everyone
The lower price of Starfield on some platforms might lead to price drops elsewhere. Currently, the base game still costs $69.99 on Steam and Xbox. Ideally, it will soon be available for $49.99, matching the price on PS5. It’s common for Bethesda games to become more affordable over time – Fallout 4, for instance, now sells for $19.99 digitally, and even older titles are available at lower prices.
We likely won’t have to wait much longer to find out if the rumors about Starfield are true. All the news regarding the game is expected to be revealed in the next week, and we should see an announcement about the April 7th date soon. Many longtime Bethesda fans have been disappointed that Starfield is only available on Xbox, so a release on PlayStation 5 could be a major benefit of Xbox’s recent move towards releasing games on multiple platforms.
