I stumbled across this YouTuber, EvenBadWolves, and she’s awesome! She’s an Aussie gamer who basically makes super detailed videos about games she really enjoys – like, she’ll break down the whole story of a game or even a whole series. She did a massive retrospective on the Dying Light franchise recently, it was incredible. But things just got crazy. She posted a video saying another YouTuber, Inkslasher, straight-up copied one of her videos, and now she’s actually suing him! She’s hoping this will help other small creators like herself and set a rule that protects our work.
EvenBadWolves is determined to set a new legal standard
EvenBadWolves Gaming is a relatively small YouTube channel with fewer than 12,000 subscribers. This is especially noticeable when compared to Inkslasher, a much larger channel with over a million subscribers and videos frequently exceeding 100,000 views. In a recent video, EvenBadWolves alleges that Inkslasher copied content from one of her videos and details the actions she’s taking to safeguard her work.
She claims that Inkslasher used roughly 30 minutes of footage from her Dying Light video in his own – a video she spent over 200 hours creating. She alleges he directly copied her video, including the footage, screen recordings, editing style, and overall structure, simply adding his own voiceover. She also notes that Inkslasher’s video contains numerous factual errors, suggesting he may not have actually played the game himself.
When Inkslasher disputed the copyright claim, YouTube’s policies gave the claimant 10 days to pursue the matter in court. Being a lawyer, she chose to file a lawsuit in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
She’s aiming to win a court case that would make it simpler for smaller content creators to defend themselves when larger channels copy their work. Many creators can’t afford the high costs of a legal battle, which could reach up to AUD 135,000, so she’s also raising money through a GoFundMe to help cover her legal fees.

The story is quickly gaining attention online, with people sharing it on X. Inkslasher’s Dying Light video has been removed, and he claims he accidentally used footage from another player.
