After spending over 100 hours playing and completing the main story, Shroud has shared his final thoughts on Crimson Desert. He doesn’t think it’s an immediate contender for Game of the Year, but he does consider it a “really good game.”
Crimson Desert is quickly becoming a huge success, with millions of copies sold and a rapidly growing player base that’s breaking records.
The game has received frequent updates, including many important fixes, almost every day. Players who started right away, such as shroud, have found it to be a challenging experience.
The game features a huge world to discover, tons of loot, and many challenging bosses. But does it rank among the best open-world games ever made? We think it’s a great adventure, though not perfect. Streamer shroud largely agrees, having completed the main story after 100 hours of playing.
Shroud praises Crimson Desert after 100 hours on stream
The former professional Counter-Strike player, now a popular Twitch streamer, finished the main story of Crimson Desert after playing for around 105 hours. Although the game has a lot more content to explore, he decided to stop there after completing the main quest.
He’d finished all the main bosses in the open-world RPG, though he hadn’t taken on every boss in the game. He felt he could likely defeat a few of the optional side bosses very quickly.
I might play this game when I have free time, but only a little bit on stream. I put about 100 hours into it, and I really had a great time playing!
I’ve been following Crimson Desert closely, and it’s currently sitting at a 77 on Metacritic based on over a hundred critic reviews. It seems like Shroud agrees with that general assessment – he thinks it’s probably around a 78 to 82, which sounds about right to me!
The game is pretty good overall. With a few small improvements, it could be excellent – maybe around an 85 out of 100. It’s definitely a game with a lot going on.
He won’t be passionately campaigning for Crimson Desert to win awards like he did for Black Myth: Wukong. However, he clearly had fun playing the game and intends to revisit it when he has the chance.
