Dwayne Johnson is one of the most successful actors globally, and he’s achieved the same level of success in Hollywood that he did as a wrestler known as “The Rock.” He’s famous for starring in big action movies and comedies, and lately he’s been taking on more serious, complex roles. While he’s been in many hit films, not everything he’s done has been a success. His former co-star, Rosamund Pike, recently admitted that one of their movies together was “one of the worst films ever made.”
Rosamund Pike recently discussed her experience making the movie Doom on the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast, and didn’t hold back. She described it as a complete disaster and one of the worst films ever made. Doom, a sci-fi action horror movie inspired by the popular video game, starred Pike as Dr. Samantha “Sam” Grimm, alongside Dwayne Johnson as “Sarge” and Karl Urban as the lead character, “Reaper.” Pike admitted she felt unprepared for the action-heavy role, especially considering her background in films like Pride & Prejudice, and shared her honest thoughts about the production.
I was having a wonderful time filming Pride & Prejudice, happily working outdoors in period costume, when I received a surprising offer: to star in a movie based on the video game Doom. It seemed ridiculous, but in that moment, I thought, ‘If I can balance on hay bales in a crinoline, I can definitely play an action hero and fight zombies on Mars!’ Suddenly, I found myself on set with Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and quickly realized I wasn’t cut out for action movies. It was a very masculine environment, full of weights, and the props – especially the guns – were treated with reverence by the Doom fans. I was completely out of my element and felt totally unprepared.

Rosamund Pike was known for historical dramas and gained international recognition as a Bond girl in Die Another Day before taking on the role in Doom. This meant playing a fighter against alien creatures on Mars was a huge change for her. Sadly, the film wasn’t successful, earning only $58 million worldwide and receiving a low 18% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Pike has said she feels fortunate to have gotten through the experience, as she worried such a prominent failure could have damaged her career.
The film was a complete disaster. It was so bad, it almost ruined my career – truly one of the worst movies ever made. I don’t pay attention to reviews, but everyone seemed to think it was a miracle it even got finished.
This is a developing story…
