Rick and Morty fans are in for a surprise.
Rick and Morty is a funny, animated sci-fi show that follows the wild adventures of Rick Sanchez, a brilliant but eccentric scientist, and his nephew, Morty. Originally voiced by Justin Roiland, Rick is now voiced by Ian Cardoni. Morty has been voiced by Maurice LaMarche and Harry Belden. Rick constantly drags Morty into bizarre situations as they travel through different dimensions and realities, usually causing a lot of trouble along the way. The show also explores the personal lives and relationships within their family.
Good news for fans of Rick and Morty! Warner Bros. Discovery has announced that season 9 will now arrive in the US much sooner than originally planned. Instead of waiting until August 31, 2026, you’ll be able to stream the new season on Hulu and HBO Max starting June 15, 2026 – over two months earlier than expected.
After 13 years, Rick and Morty is still a major hit on television. The animated comedy has been the most-watched comedy on cable for several seasons—specifically, seasons 3 through 6. The show has also received two Emmy Awards for being an outstanding animated program, and features the voices of Sarah Chalke, Chris Parnell, and Spencer Grammer, along with Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon.
The ninth season of Rick and Morty will be released worldwide in over 170 countries and translated into 42 languages. In the U.S., the premiere will be on Adult Swim on May 24, 2026, at 11 PM Eastern Time and 8 PM Pacific Time. Episodes will be available to buy digitally the next day, and weekly streaming will start on June 15, 2026.
Okay, so I just got the scoop on the new season of Rick and Morty, and honestly, Adult Swim’s president, Michael Ouweleen, is really hyped. He told me he’s consistently blown away by how the team keeps topping themselves with each season. What he seems most proud of, though, is how the show manages to blend smart sci-fi and hilarious comedy, all while keeping the focus on genuinely compelling characters. It sounds like we’re in for another great ride!
