The upcoming release of Resident Evil Veronica won’t include a popular feature from Resident Evil Requiem. However, the developers might reconsider if fans voice their concerns.
For years, the main Resident Evil games were known for their third-person perspective and focus on survival horror. The only exceptions were older games that used light guns. But with Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, the series went back to its scary beginnings, putting players in the shoes of an ordinary person trapped in a house filled with terrifying creatures. Resident Evil Village continued with the first-person view, and later added an option to play in third-person.
The first trailer for Resident Evil Veronica, the upcoming modern remake of Resident Evil – Code: Veronica, was shown at Summer Games Fest 2026. In the trailer, Claire Redfield is shown searching for her brother, giving fans hope that a feature introduced in Resident Evil Requiem will be included in the game. Unfortunately, the developers revealed to GamesRadar that the feature won’t be present.
Resident Evil Veronica Won’t Have A First-Person Camera Perspective

In Resident Evil Requiem, the player could switch between first and third-person perspectives for the playable characters, making the horror feel scarier, and the action segments easier to track. Sadly, this option won’t be present in Resident Evil Veronica, and players will be forced to play the game using a third-person perspective, as was the case with the original.
The dual camera worked well in Resident Evil Requiem because it had two characters with vastly different gameplay and story tones. Grace wasn’t experienced with the biological horrors and creatures of the night, so it made sense for her segments to be the first-person scary mode, while Leon, the more seasoned warrior, gets the third-person action camera, so players can cheer while he does wrestling moves on zombies.

Assuming Resident Evil Veronica follows the same story as its predecessor, the game should also have dual protagonists, with Claire Redfield trapped in a prison, and Chris Redfield on his way to save her. Unfortunately, there isn’t the same experience gap as there is in Resident Evil Requiem, as Clair survived the takeover and destruction of Raccoon City, while Chris made his way out of the dangerous halls of Spencer Mansion.
Resident Evil Veronica isn’t scheduled to release for another year. If players want a first-person viewpoint, they should let Capcom know. Even if it’s not ready for the initial release, Capcom could add it later as downloadable content, similar to what they did with Resident Evil Village. Unlike with Resident Evil Village where they hid the character’s face, switching to first-person wouldn’t require major changes to the game’s design – just a camera adjustment.
If Capcom is planning to remake Resident Evil 5, it would be a great addition to include a first-person perspective, especially since it’s a cooperative game with exciting, scary moments that would be even more immersive up close. If players express their interest now, it could positively influence the development of Chris Redfield’s next game.

It’s disappointing that Resident Evil Veronica doesn’t have a first-person perspective. After the success of Resident Evil 7 and Village, it seemed like that view would become standard for the series. The early trailer for Veronica suggested a much grimmer and less vibrant atmosphere than the original Code: Veronica, and a first-person camera would have suited that tone much better.
