You might not know the name Brendan Green, but most gamers recognize his alias, PlayerUnknown. He’s the creator of PUBG: Battlegrounds, a hugely popular game on Steam. Although PUBG is still thriving, the team behind it, PUBG Corporation, is now working on a new game called PUBG: Black Budget. Black Budget is an ‘extraction shooter’ – a similar style to games like Escape from Tarkov and ARC Raiders. Currently, Black Budget is in its early stages, starting with closed alpha testing. Many fans are curious if the game will eventually be released on consoles like the PlayStation 5 or Xbox, and we’ll take a look at the likelihood of that happening.

I’m really excited about what PlayerUnknown is cooking up with ‘Prologue Go Wayback’! It sounds amazing that he’s using AI to create totally different landscapes every time you play. It looks like it’s taking a bit longer than expected, though. But hey, there’s good news for those of us who love the original PUBG or were disappointed with Escape from Tarkov – PUBG Black Budget is coming! It’s still super early in development, and they’re doing closed alpha tests on PC right now, which is awesome. But I’m definitely curious about when us console players – like those of us with PS5 or Xbox – will get a chance to play!
Okay, so here’s the latest on PUBG Black Budget: right now, there’s no firm release date for consoles. It’s launching on PC first, as you know, with a limited Closed Alpha test for a select group of players. But honestly, with so many games being cross-platform these days, I’m pretty hopeful that if it does well on PC, we’ll definitely see it come to PS5 and Xbox, just like PUBG: Battlegrounds did. Fingers crossed!

That means players who get to try it first can freely share gameplay, stream it, and talk about it online.
