Psylocke, a beloved X-Men character, recently posed for a group photo with the rest of the team at New York Comic-Con, leading fans to speculate about a bigger role for her in the second season of X-Men ’97. While she appeared briefly in the first episodes, she wasn’t a full-fledged team member, but that could be changing soon.
Attendees at New York Comic Con noticed a cool display for *X-Men ’97* featuring life-size statues of the mutant team (as reported by Tanooki Joe on X). While the display seemed normal, some fans were surprised to see Psylocke included in the photo opportunities.
So far in *X-Men ’97*, Psylocke hasn’t been a core member of the team. However, with her appearing alongside main characters like Cyclops, Wolverine, and Storm, many fans believe she might become a key player in the show’s second season.

The character had a quick cameo at the end of Season 1, appearing with the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight. However, beyond a short fight with an enemy using a sword, she wasn’t featured at all in the rest of the season’s episodes.

Now that more of *X-Men ’97* is planned, the recent appearance at New York Comic Con might signal that Psylocke will have a larger role in future episodes. Marvel will share updates about the new season during their television and animation panel on Saturday, October 11th at 1:30 p.m. Eastern Time. You can find details about Marvel’s NYCC plans here.
X-Men ’97 picks up where the popular X-Men: The Animated Series left off in the 1990s. The show follows Charles Xavier’s team of mutant heroes as they navigate life and challenges after the loss of their leader and mentor. While there isn’t a confirmed release date yet, Season 2 is anticipated to premiere around 2026.
Psylocke’s X-Men ’97 Future Explained

Now that more of *X-Men ’97* is on the way, it’s a good opportunity to introduce a wider range of Marvel’s mutant characters. The first season mainly focused on the core X-Men team – characters like Wolverine, Storm, Cyclops, and Jean Grey – and gave them most of the attention.
As the show develops its storyline, it should also grow its team of mutants. While not as famous as Wolverine, Psylocke is a well-known character in the X-Men world, appearing in many comics, a few X-Men films, and even popular video games like Marvel Rivals.
Interestingly, this character has a connection to the world of *X-Men ’97*. While she had a quick appearance in Season 1, she also featured in the original *X-Men: The Animated Series*.
Psylocke, originally voiced by Tasha Simms, appeared in multiple episodes of the popular ’90s cartoon and even became a member of the X-Men. Later, she left the team, though the reason for her departure was never explained.
Storm might rejoin the X-Men team and become a regular member again in *X-Men ’97*.
