Artwork for the upcoming Pokemon Pokopia Expansion Pass has surfaced online through retail listings, and it suggests the new content could reveal more than just a handful of new Pokemon for the next game on the Switch 2.
Okay, so Serebii just dropped some news that’s got me hyped! They found artwork on a box for the new Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass – it looks like it’s for download codes on the Switch 2. And get this: it shows Pokémon we can’t even get in the base game right now, like Manaphy, Popplio and Snubbull! Seriously cool to see what’s coming.
This matches what Nintendo has already announced about the paid DLC for Pokopia. The first part of the Expansion Pass, called Bubbly Basin, will be released in August 2026 and includes a new underwater town, furniture, clothing, and Pokémon. You can purchase the pass now on the eShop. The second part will add more features later in 2026, and the third part will introduce another new town in 2027.

New Pokemon Pokopia art may tease shiny Pokemon
As a huge fan, the first thing I noticed in the new artwork is that some of the Pokémon are wearing clothes or accessories! It’s so cute! Like, PeakyChu has this awesome headpiece and wings, and Snubbul is all dressed up with a little bowtie. And Manaphy? The artwork puts it right in its element with this cool underwater theme, which makes total sense with the new Bubbly Basin update coming soon!
This suggests that future updates to Pokopia might offer even more ways to customize your character and Pokémon, beyond just using Ditto or changing villagers’ appearances. Nintendo has confirmed Bubbly Basin will introduce new furniture, clothing, and Pokémon, and the official trailer specifically mentioned outfits for Ditto.
A potentially important detail is the sparkle effect visible on the right side of the art. Specifically, the pink portion of the image – likely connected to the next set of downloadable content – features sparkles surrounding the characters Peakychu and Snubbull.
The symbol on the Pokopia DLC artwork compared to the shiny symbols in Champions, Z-A, and Scarlet/Violet.The sparkle symbol is important because recent Pokémon games – like Scarlet & Violet, Legends Z-A, and Pokémon Champions – use it to highlight shiny Pokémon on their stat screens. However, in Pokopia, players can only catch one of each Pokémon, making the concept of shiny Pokémon a bit confusing.
Currently, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company haven’t confirmed whether shiny Pokémon will be included in Pokémon Poketopia. So, the idea that they will be is just a guess at this point. However, if the game’s art style is deliberately hinting at something similar, these “new features” planned for the second wave of updates might involve shinies, character customization options, or other ways to change a Pokémon’s appearance.
Currently, ‘Bubbly Basin’ is the only downloadable content (DLC) name that’s been announced. This underwater town will be released in August, along with a free update called ‘Dive’. The second wave of content isn’t expected until late 2026, so fans will likely need to wait for another official announcement to learn more about what it includes.
