Early looks at Pokemon Legends Z-A suggest shiny Pokemon might once again be highlighted with a special sparkle and sound, something many players have been hoping for.
The newest Pokémon game, Pokémon Legends Z-A, will be released in October. The game takes place entirely within Lumiose City and offers a fresh take on the Kalos region. It also brings back Mega Evolutions, a popular feature that hasn’t been seen in Pokémon games for quite some time.
Most reports about the new Pokémon game have highlighted its world and battles, but one specific detail has really excited dedicated players who hunt for rare, shiny Pokémon. A feature from a previous game, Pokémon Legends: Arceus, made shiny Pokémon stand out with a special sparkle and sound. This helpful feature was absent in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet, which meant shiny Pokémon could appear without players even knowing, causing frustration for many.
Serebii report raises hopes for shiny hunters
As a long-time Pokémon fan, I always check what Joe Merrick from Serebii has to say, especially about shiny Pokémon! He recently previewed the new game and, while he didn’t find a shiny himself, he heard from someone who did. He’s not 100% sure, but it sounds like there *might* be shiny sparkles and sounds – and that’s really exciting to hear!
Merrick first noticed the absence of sparkling animations for rare Pokémon in Scarlet & Violet during a preview event in 2022, a change that many players disliked. If his recent findings are correct, the upcoming Legends Z-A will bring back the feature that made finding these rare Pokémon more fun and easier in Legends Arceus.
Pokemon Legends Z-A will be available worldwide on October 16, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
