The newest trailer for Pokemon Legends Z-A revealed the return of Apricorn Balls, a beloved feature from older games that many fans will remember fondly.
The game’s latest trailer, released on October 2nd, showed off more of its gameplay, which combines exploring the world with fast-paced battles. Keen-eyed fans quickly spotted something special: six different Poke Balls being used at the Pokemon Center’s healing machine, including three popular Apricorn Ball designs – the Lure Ball, Love Ball, and Heavy Ball.
Along with the Apricorn Balls, the game also includes Luxury Balls, Nest Balls, and Dive Balls. These weren’t featured in Pokémon Legends: Arceus, hinting that this new game will have a wider variety of Poké Balls to choose from.

Apricorn Balls were first introduced in the Pokémon Gold and Silver games. Players could make these special Poké Balls by giving Apricorn fruit to Kurt, a character in Azalea Town. The color of the Apricorn used determined the type of ball created. This crafting system returned in later games – briefly in HeartGold and SoulSilver, then through a device called the Cram-o-matic in the Isle of Armor expansion for Pokémon Sword and Shield, and most recently through the Item Printer in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
In Pokémon Legends: Arceus, players crafted Poké Balls using Brown Apricorns, and there were only three basic types: the standard Poké Ball, Heavy Ball, and Feather Ball, each of which could be upgraded. The presence of multiple Apricorn Balls in the new Legends Z-A game suggests that more customization options are coming back, and that crafting Poké Balls with Apricorns might become a major feature again.
