Players can now access the full Star Citizen experience for 10 days, with a free trial that includes almost 200 different spacecraft, as part of a new promotion for the large-scale space simulation game.
Cloud Imperium Games is giving everyone a chance to try out Star Citizen, the game created by Chris Roberts. The Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2955 is now open, and until December 3rd, you can explore the game and see almost 200 spaceships without paying. While nearly all ships are available to test, access isn’t immediate for every single one.
The Expo began on November 20th, and throughout the event, players visiting Orison will find discounts from various manufacturers on their newest ships released in the last year. Right now, you can try out 30 different models from Kruger Intergalactic, MIRAI, and MISC. However, test flights will be available for all ships only on November 29th, letting you explore the Star Citizen universe like never before.
During the event, the game will be free to play, and returning players can earn rewards for inviting friends to join. These rewards include a unique Drake Dragonfly skin and other perks.
Update 4.4, including the new Nyx star system and a variety of fresh content like new weapons for the first-person shooter mode, was released in alpha last week.
As predicted, Star Citizen has reached a new high in yearly revenue, with players spending over $122 million so far – bringing the total close to $900 million. Interestingly, the game’s recent IAE 2955 event could boost sales even further, as both new and long-time players may be encouraged to purchase ships after getting a free trial.
Despite ongoing frustrations with the game, fans continue to spend significant amounts of money on Star Citizen, and there’s no sign of that support stopping in the near future.
