Paul King, the director behind the beloved Paddington films, is taking on a new project: a movie based on Labubu, the hugely popular keychain toy! Don’t worry, Paddington fans – this doesn’t mean he’s abandoning the bear! King has a knack for turning charming stories into something truly meaningful, even tackling big themes like kindness and human rights with the Paddington sequels. He seems like the perfect person to bring Labubu to the big screen, and it will be interesting to see what message he brings to this new film – perhaps something about how we think about possessions and limited resources.
I’m really excited about this new project! King is producing, along with Department M and Wenxin She, and get this – Pop Mart is involved too! You know, the company behind those super popular, adorable little demon figures created by Kasing Lung? It’s still early days though, they haven’t brought a writer on board yet, which means if you’ve got a great story idea for that world, now’s the time to pitch it!
