The actors from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series are asking Paramount Pictures to release The Legend of Aang movie in theaters. This request comes after the film was unexpectedly leaked online, and they believe a theatrical release is still worthwhile despite the leak.
This animated story centers on Aang, Katara, Zuko, and Toph as they uncover another Airbender named Tagah, who was frozen for years and recently freed. The group embarks on a quest to locate a powerful staff that could help restore their lost culture. But they aren’t alone – a dangerous group called the Denied is also searching for the staff, with plans to use it for evil.
The movie ‘The Legend of Aang’ faced controversy when it was leaked online months before it became available for streaming. Animators who worked on the film have expressed disappointment with the piracy, stating that it undermines the effort they invested in creating it.
The actors from the original Avatar: The Last Airbender series have spoken out, expressing their desire for The Legend of Aang movie to be shown in cinemas.

During a Supernova Melbourne panel (according to Collider), some of the original Avatar voice actors were asked about leaked versions of the new movie. While they hadn’t seen the full film, Olivia Hack, who played Ty Lee, admitted to watching a few clips. She explained she did so because the movie isn’t being released in theaters, and she was impressed with how good The Legend of Aang looked.
I quickly looked through it, and the artwork is stunning. Since I’ve already paid for a subscription to the service – Paramount has my money – I don’t need to worry about spoilers. I glanced at it, the art is beautiful, but I haven’t actually watched it yet, she said.
I really think this should be shown in cinemas. When you see it, you’ll understand – it’s truly amazing. The visuals are beautiful, absolutely gorgeous.
The movie was originally planned for cinemas, but the studio ultimately decided to release it directly on Paramount+. It features a completely new cast playing younger versions of the characters, including Eric Nam as Aang, Dave Bautista as Tagah, Jessica Matten as Katara, Román Zaragoza as Sokka, Dionne Quan as Toph, and Steven Yeun, known for his role in Invincible, as Zuko.
So, after that leak of info about the live-action Avatar: The Legend of Aang movie, I’m keeping an eye on what Paramount does next. But while we wait, I’ve been checking out all the other big movies coming in 2026 – seriously, there’s a ton of stuff I’m hyped for! I’ve been glued to the 2026 release calendar to see everything that’s planned.
