Just in case you thought the story was over after six seasons and a movie, Steven Knight is planning to continue the Peaky Blinders universe with at least two more seasons of a spinoff series on Netflix, according to Deadline. This will happen after the Peaky Blinders movie comes out next year. Cillian Murphy will be an executive producer, but it’s still unclear if his character, Tommy Shelby, will return. Considering Tommy has almost died multiple times each season and will likely face the same fate in the movie, it’s hard to say how long he could last in any sequel. The new show will focus on “a new generation of our beloved Birmingham clan,” which could mean we’ll see Peaky Blinders: The College Years (or perhaps a show set during their “uni” years). The show is set in 1953, and the official description says Birmingham is being rebuilt with “concrete and steel.” The fight to control this massive reconstruction project will be intense, and the Shelby family will be right in the middle of the action-a city full of both opportunity and danger, and plenty of bloodshed.
It sounds like the usual chaos with the Shelby family – issues with money, violence, and constant conflict. Will they ever find peace? Perhaps enjoy a quiet ten years listening to music and relaxing at the pub? The 1970s are a possibility, but don’t hold your breath for calm anytime before then.
