Nina Lin responds to rumors she’s been permabanned on Twitch

Twitch streamer Nina Lin is disputing reports of a permanent ban, but confusing messages from Twitch itself suggest her suspension might last a very long time.

A video from Lin’s Twitch stream on November 30th became popular online after she was seen taking items at a Target self-checkout without paying for them. The video shows her scanning less expensive products while also taking more expensive ones, like steaks, and not scanning those.

Okay, so this is just wild. Apparently, people called Lin out for stealing something from Target, and her response was… honestly, really frustrating. She basically admitted to it but acted like it wasn’t a big deal, saying Target wasn’t actually losing anything. Then, to prove how clever she was, she showed off these boots she bought and asked her viewers to guess the price. When someone asked, she said she only paid $3.99, which clearly meant she’d scanned a cheaper item! It’s just… a really weird way to handle things.

Lin was banned from Twitch for the third time in a few weeks, following previous suspensions for old clips that showed concerning behavior. She hasn’t streamed on the platform since.

Is Nina Lin actually permabanned on Twitch?

On December 18th, rumors spread online that Lin was permanently banned from Twitch and wouldn’t be allowed to return. Lin promptly addressed these claims on Instagram, stating they were false.

She strongly denied recent rumors, saying people were falsely making things up about her. She also said people were overly focused on her and promised she would be back, hinting at a possible full trailer to announce her return.

Lin then posted again, saying she was looking forward to returning and seeing the reaction to the reported permanent ban. She asked her followers to send her examples of posts about it.

Twitch typically doesn’t discuss specific instances of rule-breaking, but a message on Lin’s channel has drawn attention. Visitors to her page now see a notice stating the channel is unavailable due to a violation of Twitch’s rules.

This error message usually means an account has been permanently banned. For instance, Dr Disrespect’s Twitch channel showed the exact same message when he was banned.

Unlike some channels, Rakai currently displays a message saying it’s temporarily unavailable because it broke Twitch’s rules or terms of service.

Twitch hasn’t shared what these different messages mean, so it’s still uncertain what Nina Lin’s situation is. As of now, it’s unknown if or when she’ll be able to return to the platform, which is owned by Amazon.
