After being revealed at this week’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix has released more details and images for Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World. This includes information about the characters you can play as, helpful allies, the game’s story, the world itself, how monster battles work, and what downloadable content will be available.

Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World will be available on December 3rd for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch (both original and new models), and PC via Steam.

The newest installment in the Dragon Quest Monsters series, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Withered World, will launch worldwide on December 3, 2026. Players will follow Bianca and Nera – beloved characters from Dragon Quest V – as they become monster wranglers and battle using a team of creatures. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Steam, and the Microsoft Store on Windows. Alongside the standard game, players can also purchase special editions like the Digital Deluxe Edition and Collector’s Edition, both of which include bonus downloadable content.

Introducing the Adventurers

Bianca and Nera are the central characters in this story, and both their fathers are sick. While searching for a remedy, they meet and decide to team up to save them. As they journey together, the girls learn to overcome their disagreements and support each other through every challenge they face.

The Mega Mole Hole ($9.99)

These custom dungeons feature only monsters you’ve already become friends with. You can choose which types of monsters you want to see, making it more likely you’ll encounter the specific ones you’re looking for!

Monster Marathons ($9.99)

This game lets you send a team of monsters on an adventure. You tell them when to run and jump to get through each level. The further they go, and whether they finish the stage, determines how many items, experience points, and coins you earn.

The Metallic Ring ($9.99)

While adventuring, use the Metallic Ring to turn nearby monsters into metal slimes, liquid metal slimes, metal king slimes, or hunter mechs. You can use the ring repeatedly, but there’s a 30-minute cooldown between each use.

The Scout Run VIP Card ($4.99)

This item gives you benefits to enhance your Scout Run experience, such as extra snacks to use during the run, increased monster appearances, and faster cooldowns between runs.
