New racing game is basically Umamusume with anime car girls

A new racing game is borrowing an idea from Umamusume, letting players race as cute, animated female characters transformed into cars – and it’s shaping up to be delightfully strange and entertaining.

Both Forza Horizon 6 and Mario Kart World offer exciting racing experiences – one set in a stunningly detailed open-world Japan, the other with chaotic battle royale action. However, they’re both lacking something special: anime girls!

Project GT is a new racing game with a unique twist. It builds on the popular formula that made Umamusume a success, letting players collect anime-style characters that are based on real-life cars.

Similar to Cygame’s well-known mobile game, Project GT lets players improve their characters and compete in exciting single-player and player-versus-player battles. The recent trailer suggests it’s going to be a really fun experience.

New racing game transforms cars into anime girls

The game’s developers recently revealed that each character is inspired by a real-life vehicle, combining authentic car culture with anime aesthetics.

The main part of the game is racing on difficult tracks. Each character has unique abilities, similar to those in Genshin Impact, which help them gain an advantage during races.

One character demonstrated a temporary speed increase through an activated ability, and another showcased a powerful, visually impressive ultimate attack that fired projectiles at opponents.

Imagine a racing game that combines the spectacular abilities from Genshin Impact with the wild, unpredictable action of Mario Kart, and adds a twist inspired by Umamusume – turning famous figures into anime characters.

The team shared that its members are experienced professionals from top game companies, including miHoYo, Tencent, NetEase, and Sunborn Network.

The teams behind popular games like Genshin Impact, Marvel Rivals, and Girls’ Frontline 2 are creating this game, meaning the ‘Car-Girl’ designs will be a major focus.

While Project GT doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, its Kickstarter campaign has been a huge success, exceeding its $2,000 goal and raising over $10,000 so far. If you enjoy games like Umamusume, this waifu racing simulator might be exactly what you’re looking for.
