A new update for the PlayStation 5 is coming out tomorrow, September 17th. It will let you connect your DualSense controller to more than one device at the same time. The update also includes a Power Saver mode, which game developers will use in future updates for titles like Death Stranding 2, Demon’s Souls, and Ghost of Yōtei to help reduce energy consumption.
To update your console, navigate to the Settings menu. From there, go to System, then System Software, and finally select System Software Update and Settings.
Sony first announced this PS5 update in July, explaining how to connect your DualSense controller to several devices and introducing a new Power Saver mode. After the update is released, you’ll be able to pair the DualSense with up to four different devices. The process is simple: when you connect via Bluetooth, you’ll assign each device to one of the four buttons on the controller (triangle, circle, etc.). Then, you can quickly switch between devices by holding down the PS button and the corresponding action button at the same time.
Turning on Power Saver mode on your PS5 will reduce energy consumption by slightly decreasing performance in certain games. When Power Saver is enabled, you won’t be able to use VR mode, and some in-game features might not function as expected.
You can turn on Power Saver by going to Settings, then System, then Power Saving, and choosing the ‘Use Power Saver’ setting.
