This is a new record for animated movies on Netflix, surpassing even the popularity of “KPop Demon Hunters”.

This fun movie, similar to Freaky Friday, tells the story of Ollie, a cute, furry creature called a pookoo, and his rivalry with the bird-like javans over food. After a chance encounter with a javan named Ivy, both accidentally switch bodies thanks to a magical pod. Now, they must team up to change back and bring their two groups together.

Nell Minow of Movie Mom notes that while films like Hoppers and Freaky Friday cover similar ground more effectively, this movie boasts imaginative and colorful animation, with Temple and Jordan delivering energetic and funny performances. She also appreciates the film’s positive messages about acceptance and understanding.

Many people loved the movie and were disappointed it wasn’t getting a wider release in theaters, feeling it deserved one. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film’s beautiful animation and charming characters make its limited theatrical run a shame.

Nathan Greno directed the movie Swapped, which was written by John Whittington, Christian Magalhaes, and Robert Snow. The film features the voices of Michael B. Jordan, Juno Temple, Tracy Morgan, Cedric the Entertainer, and Justina Machado.
