NBC Still Hasn’t Renewed The Only Network Show W/ Rare 100% On Rotten Tomatoes & That’s A Shame

Despite receiving perfect reviews on Rotten Tomatoes, NBC hasn’t yet announced whether it will continue a critically acclaimed show. As the 2025-2026 TV season nears its end, networks are starting to plan for fall 2026. CBS has already revealed its schedule, and ABC and NBC will do the same soon. Before they do, though, they need to decide which of their current shows will be back for another season.

NBC has revealed plans for its 2026-2027 season, renewing popular shows like the One Chicago franchise, Law & Order: SVU, Happy’s Place, and St. Denis Medical for another year. However, Law & Order: Organized Crime, starring Chris Meloni, has been canceled. Several other shows are still awaiting renewal decisions, including The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, which many expected to be automatically renewed.

NBC Hasn’t Renewed The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins (Despite Its Success)

NBC’s new sitcom, The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, created by Robert Carlock and Sam Means, follows Tracy Morgan as Reggie Dinkins, a former football star trying to rebuild his life after being banned from the sport due to a gambling scandal. The show also stars Danielle Radcliffe as Arthur Tobin, a filmmaker documenting Dinkins’ journey. This marks Radcliffe’s first US television series.

The comedy series The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins premiered on NBC in the 2025-2026 season, capitalizing on the growing trend of mockumentary-style comedies. The show, starring Morgan and Radcliffe, launched to critical acclaim with a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes – and remarkably, it has held onto that score throughout its first season. Despite its success, NBC has yet to commit to a second season, leaving its future uncertain.

Why NBC Needs The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins Season 2

NBC is probably delaying the renewal of The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins because viewership declined. The show started strong in January, becoming the most-watched comedy of the 2025-2026 season and performing well on streaming platforms. However, ratings decreased as the season went on, and the finale didn’t generate much excitement.

Despite a promising beginning and positive reviews, NBC would be making a big error if they didn’t renew the show for another season. With only ten episodes aired so far, giving it more time could help The Rise and Fall of Reggie Dinkins find its footing. Plus, NBC could benefit from having another comedy series, particularly as CBS, a major player in the genre, appears to be producing fewer of them.
