Naughty Dog is asking employees to work overtime, according to reports, as they try to get their game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, back on track with its release schedule.
A recent Bloomberg report reveals that developers at Sony’s main game studio have been working overtime for the last seven weeks to finish a demo for their new sci-fi game, Intergalactic.
The increased workload was reportedly requested because the project was falling behind schedule, and it was meant to help get things back on track.
According to Bloomberg’s sources, the recent overtime at the studio was to finish a demo for Sony, and wasn’t related to meeting the overall game’s release schedule. The game, Intergalactic, is still planned to come out around mid-2027, so this demo work happened fairly early in development.
Intergalactic devs reportedly have to work overtime
According to the report, employees were asked to work extra hours for seven weeks to get development back on track after some setbacks. They were also told that the studio would return to its regular three-day work week in the office through January.

Naughty Dog and Sony haven’t publicly addressed the reports of overtime, and both companies refused to provide a statement when reached by Bloomberg.
Intergalactic is Naughty Dog’s first completely new game idea since The Last of Us. This represents a big change for the studio, which has focused on sequels and updated versions of older games for several years. The game was announced at The Game Awards and is expected to be a major exclusive title for the PlayStation console, released later in its lifespan.
