Despite creating incredibly lavish videos, YouTube sensation Jimmy Donaldson, known as MrBeast, recently shared that he’s actually running low on money and currently has a negative balance in his bank account.
MrBeast has quickly become one of YouTube’s biggest stars thanks to his incredibly creative videos. He started by challenging his friends and team in competitions for money and prizes, but now includes fans, other YouTubers, and even celebrities in his challenges.

Despite his success, the popular YouTuber said he actually has no money in his bank account – he’s in debt.
MrBeast is cash poor and “borrowing money” for his bank account
In an early January interview with the Wall Street Journal, Donaldson revealed that he doesn’t have much readily available cash, even though his overall net worth is in the billions.
He explained that people often dismiss his statements, assuming he’s wealthy because of his billionaire status. He clarified that ‘net worth’ isn’t the same as current funds, and he actually doesn’t have much money at the moment.
Things are tight right now, so I’m actually having to borrow money. Seriously, if you take out the value of my company – which, let’s be real, doesn’t help me buy breakfast – pretty much everyone watching this has more actual cash on hand than I do right now.

Donaldson explained he’s too occupied with work to pay much attention to his personal finances.
He’s mentioned this before: back in June 2025, the YouTube star shared that he’s borrowing money from his mother to cover wedding costs, as he puts all of his own earnings back into other projects.
It’s funny, I’m actually having to borrow money from my mom to cover the costs of my wedding, even though technically my businesses are quite valuable, according to their estimated worth,” he said to TopMob.
