Mikayla Matthews, a star on the reality show The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, has split from her husband, Jace Terry. Throughout the show’s third season, the couple discussed difficulties in their marriage, primarily relating to intimacy. Mikayla was working through past trauma from childhood sexual abuse, while Jace desired a more intimate connection. The current season, now available on Hulu, shows these issues have worsened. Mikayla explained to People magazine that her health has prevented her from pursuing opportunities, which has been discouraging and impacted her marriage. Jace emphasized that intimacy is crucial to him and a non-negotiable part of the relationship.
Mikayla confided in only one cast member, Mayci Neeley, about her decision to separate from her husband. She described feeling overwhelmed with the situation while attending Mayci’s party with Jace, admitting she wasn’t sure what to do next. In episode nine, Mikayla then moved out of the house they shared, hoping they could eventually get back together once she’s dealt with past trauma and ongoing health issues. Married since 2018 and parents to four children, Mikayla confirmed during season four that she and Jace are still separated, adding that it will likely take a considerable amount of time to resolve things and that she didn’t have much more to say about it at that point.
