Spike Chunsoft announced a new Japanese voice actress for Monomi in Super Danganronpa 2×2. Kinuta Ooshiro will be the new voice behind this beloved mascot.
So, this is kinda sad. The voice actress for Monomi, Takako Sasuga, passed away back in February 2023 – she was 87. It’s a similar situation to Monokuma’s voice actress, actually. It’s always tough when someone who brought a character to life is no longer with us.
This project marks a significant first for Kinuta Ooshiro, as it’s her first major acting role. While she’s done some voice work for web animations in the past, she’s primarily worked as a director at Dream Line Entertainment, most recently on the Style of Hiroshi Nohara’s Lunch spinoff of Crayon Shin-chan.
A new trailer featuring Monomi’s voiceover is now on YouTube, which you can watch below. The game, Super Danganronpa 2×2, will be released on PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (via Steam) in 2026.
