That covers everything in the recent MLB The Show 26 Update 7 patch notes. The developers also shared notes on a variety of other issues and changes.
First, the game’s Diamond Dynasty mode now uses a strike zone that follows the official Automated Ball-Strike (ABS) system. This simply means any pitch that crosses the plate within the defined strike zone will be called a strike. Here’s what that changes:
- Umpires will continue to make perfect calls in DD with no ABS challenges
- The updated strike zone will be slightly smaller than previously in DDD. However, this size change happened purely for visual reasons
The developers also explained why they removed the penalty for pitches that break away or go down in the strike zone. They made this change to improve balance in the game, as previously, these pitches unfairly penalized players.
The reduced ball size helps players deal with the many foul balls they used to see. However, these elements still play a key role in the game, maintaining a balance between pitching and hitting.
The developers also stated they’re constantly watching the game to prevent cheating, and they appreciate players reporting problems, which helps them find and fix issues. Their goal is to create a fairer experience for everyone by reducing cheating.
We look forward to seeing what else SDS adds to the game throughout the season.
