Insomniac Games just gave fans a fresh look at their upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine game during today’s PlayStation State of Play livestream. They also announced that Liam McIntyre, known for his role in Spartacus, will be the voice of Wolverine.
The latest trailer showed Wolverine battling some known enemies, like Omega Red and a massive Sentinel. Mystique was also featured, though it’s unclear if she’ll be an ally or opponent. Most of Wolverine’s challenges seem to come from the Reavers, a group of cyborgs who are hostile towards mutants. The game’s developer, Insomniac, revealed that the story will take Wolverine on a global journey, from the forests of Canada to the cities of Tokyo and his past haunts in Madripoor.
We first learned about Marvel’s Wolverine in September 2021 during a PlayStation Showcase. This new trailer is the first official update on the game since then. Unfortunately, Insomniac Games, the developer, experienced a significant data breach in December 2023, and some early, unfinished footage of the game was leaked as part of that breach.
Insomniac plans to reveal more details about the Wolverine game next spring, with a release currently scheduled for fall 2026 on PlayStation 5.
