Kathryn Hahn Mentions ‘Unfinished Business’ While Reflecting On Agatha All Along And Sharing Hopes For Her MCU Future

The next major event for the Marvel Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly the Russo brothers’ Avengers: Doomsday, and there’s talk that the following Secret Wars movie will essentially reboot the live-action Marvel universe. However, for fans who’ve enjoyed the smaller, streaming shows like WandaVision and Agatha All Along, the future looks bright with the upcoming series VisionQuest. This new show, starring Paul Bettany as Vision, could give us an update on what Agatha Harkness is up to now.

Since VisionQuest is the third installment in the series that first featured Agatha, many fans expect Kathryn Hahn to reprise her role, completing what feels like a three-part story. However, according to Hahn herself, there are no confirmed plans for her character to appear in any upcoming Marvel TV shows or movies. She recently told Collider, while discussing her comedy film The Studio, that her character’s story isn’t currently being continued.

I’m incredibly touched by the passionate fans of that show. Working with Aubrey Plaza on it was a truly special experience that I’ll always cherish. Neither of us expected it to resonate so deeply, and she’s one of my favorite actors. I really hope we have the chance to collaborate again, as there’s still more we could explore together.

Even though Rio kissed Agatha, seemingly killing her, in the second-to-last episode, Agatha is still around as a spirit helping the revived Billy Maximoff. And Death itself still exists, though it’s unclear if it knows Agatha is now trying to help Billy find his brother Tommy. Regardless, Billy and his former love interest probably wouldn’t need much encouragement to reconnect.

Agatha Harkness might not be finished with Death, but Jennifer Kale also survived the journey down the Witches Road. If Aubrey Plaza isn’t available to reprise her role, Sasheer Zamata’s character could return, and she’d likely have some unresolved issues with Agatha after everything the group endured.

Hahn seems enthusiastic about working with Jennifer Plaza again, but she’s also interested in further developing Agatha’s character. However, she isn’t sure Plaza would be open to resolving their differences and collaborating again.

I think Jennifer and I have both grown a lot, and we definitely share a strong connection. After everything we’ve been through, it feels like our friendship should deepen. However, I did something terrible, so I’m not sure if she’d be willing to forgive me and rebuild our relationship.

I think their future relationship will probably be all or nothing. Jennifer will either completely avoid Agatha forever, or she’ll try to become close friends with her, believing their connection was too meaningful to let go. I doubt there’s much room for a lukewarm or casual relationship between them.

Hahn has talked about wanting Agatha to team up with characters like Doctor Strange or Loki in some fun, chaotic storylines. However, it doesn’t seem likely those crossovers will happen within the VisionQuest series. Therefore, it might be a better idea to move Agatha’s story – and continue it with Billy – into a full-length movie or show.

As fans speculate about whether characters from the magical world will play a role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday storyline, the complete Agatha All Along series is now available to watch on Disney+. Some are even jokingly suggesting that playing it backwards on an old laserdisc might reveal Mephisto and offer a helping hand.
