Manhattan Federal Court Judge Lewis J. Liman has dismissed most of Blake Lively’s sexual harassment accusations against Justin Baldoni before their trial could begin. According to the New York Times, Judge Liman explained that while someone accused of harassment can defend themselves, there’s a line between defending oneself and retaliating against the person making the accusations. He dismissed 10 of Lively’s 13 claims, noting that her harassment allegations didn’t meet the necessary legal standards, though a few still fall under claims of retaliation. This isn’t the only legal issue in the dispute over the film It Ends With Us to be dropped – Baldoni’s lawsuit against Lively for defamation was also dismissed in 2025.
Attorneys for actor Sergio Baldoni expressed satisfaction with the court’s review of the case, noting the original allegations were substantial and a large amount of evidence was considered. They stated the case has been significantly reduced and they are prepared to present their defense. Blake Lively’s lawyer, Sigrid McCawley, emphasized the case centers on what she described as severe retaliation against Lively after she advocated for on-set safety, and the attempts to damage her reputation. The trial is set to begin May 18th.
