James Cameron is committed to finishing the story of the Na’vi people, even if he stops making Avatar movies. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Cameron explained that even if Disney doesn’t fund further installments, he’ll reveal the planned plot for future films. Avatar: Fire and Ash has already earned nearly half a billion dollars worldwide, and with the holidays approaching, that number is expected to grow. However, Cameron has a backup plan: he’ll hold a press conference to share the story he had in mind for Avatar 4 and 5. He’s developed a rich and detailed world with extensive backstory and character development, and wants to ensure fans know the full story. He even joked about presenting it as a puppet show. Ultimately, Cameron wants to share all the details he’s created for the world of Pandora.
James Cameron considered writing a book series based on Avatar if other ideas, like a press conference or a stage show, didn’t pan out. However, he’s skeptical it would be successful, pointing out that people aren’t reading as much these days. He thinks a series written by him might change that, and it’s worth exploring the possibility.
