During its recent live-streamed event, Apple introduced the much-anticipated iPhone 17 lineup, which includes four models: the iPhone 17, iPhone Lite (or perhaps named Air), the iPhone 17 Pro, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max. While the press has been buzzing about the ultrathin iPhone Lite, each model of this new iPhone generation boasts a pair of exciting new technological advancements that mobile gaming aficionados will find captivating.
The first notable feature is the Super Retina XDR display, enhanced with Ceramic Shield 2 for improved durability, and capable of supporting a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. Destiny Rising, a free-to-play RPG from NetEase, has been announced as one of the initial iOS games set to leverage this 120Hz technology.

Following that, we have the vapor chamber cooling technology, similar to what was found in the Xbox One X. This innovative cooling system is designed to improve heat dispersal and overall performance. The secret lies within deionized water enclosed within the chamber, which is precisely laser-welded onto the aluminum chassis to shift heat away from the powerful A19 Pro. As a result, it can operate at even higher efficiency levels, as stated in the official announcement.
Other gaming-relevant features found in the new set of iPhones include the A19 Pro chip, which sports a 6-core CPU and GPU architecture that Apple says will “deliver up to 40% better sustained performance than the previous generation.” The new N1 wireless networking chip, meanwhile, will support Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread for online multiplayer games.
The latest iPhone model, the iPhone 17, is slated for release on September 19. Pre-orders will start a week earlier on September 12.
