Are you curious about expanding your storage capacity in Borderlands 4? Your character’s backpack, along with facilities like the bank and lost loot box, have limited item carrying capacity. However, by acquiring some upgrades, you won’t have to burden yourself with hauling excess gear everywhere you venture.

How to increase inventory space in Borderlands 4
You can expand your character’s storage by using the Storage Deck Upgrade (SDU) menu. Essentially, SDU functions like points or resources that accumulate during your journeys. This menu not only enhances the room you have for items in your possession, but also boosts the maximum ammo capacity for different types of weapons.
Which SDU upgrade should you prioritize?
From the array of updates within the SDU menu, we strongly suggest prioritizing the Backpack upgrade, followed by Lost Loot and Bank. These enhancements will significantly expand your inventory space in Borderlands 4.
- The Backpack upgrade is your top priority since it denotes how many unequipped items can be carried at any given time.
- The Bank upgrade is pretty good, too. You can store items for your other characters–i.e. “alts”–as well as gear pieces that have Firmware mods.
- Lost Loot, meanwhile, refers to the machine that stores gear pieces that you left behind or didn’t pick up. You don’t want to lose track of a legendary drop that you didn’t notice.
- Weapon ammo upgrades shouldn’t be prioritized since you’ll find plenty of ammunition and vending machines while exploring areas and fighting foes.
Note: The SDU cost increases for each type of utility that you upgrade.
How to earn more SDU?
As a gamer, I rack up SDU by finishing a variety of extra tasks within the game. For example, completing Safehouses and Order Silos not only gives me SDU points, but they also transform into fast-travel spots once unlocked.
You can gather items like Survivalist Kits, Evocaria Containers, Propaganda Broadcasters, Misplaced Pods, among others, which not only enrich your collection but also offer additional Supply Depot Units (SDUs). Essentially, keep discovering and engaging in gameplay to amass more resources.
Our tutorial on expanding inventory capacity in Borderlands 4 comes to an end. If you’re excited to delve deeper into the game world, consider discovering more Vaults for extra storage space.
