Team Cherry, the creators of the popular indie game Hollow Knight: Silksong, just revealed they’re working on downloadable content, with one last announcement planned before the end of 2025.
According to the studio’s blog post about the upcoming expansion, Sea of Sorrow will include new bosses, tools, and other additions. Hornet will explore both above and below the dangerous, salty seas.
A short trailer released on December 16th doesn’t reveal much about the new downloadable content, but Team Cherry promises to share more information as the 2026 release date approaches.
Hollow Knight Silksong updates coming soon
Alongside the latest Silksong updates, Team Cherry also revealed they’re developing an enhanced version of the original Hollow Knight specifically for the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.
I’m so excited! The update is going to make the game look even better with smoother animations, sharper graphics, and some cool new visual effects. And the best part? If you already have the game on Switch, this update is totally free!
These updates will roll out to all platforms in 2026. PC players can try them out now through a beta test on Steam and GOG.
After being initially planned as extra content for Hollow Knight, Silksong was developed into its own full game and finally launched on September 4, 2025. This was over six years after the game was first revealed.
