Gundam Officially Gets First-Ever Custom Mecha Collection Ahead of 50th Anniversary

Since the late 1970s, this popular franchise has been known for its collectible toys and model kits. Now, Bandai is expanding its offerings with a new line of figures designed to offer even more ways to play and customize.

The new Gundaqm Miximize line was recently unveiled at a toy show. These toys let fans mix and match parts from different robots, letting them create unique designs. Each set also includes a small pilot figure, making them ideal construction toys for customization enthusiasts.

Gundam Fans Can Finally Create Custom Figures With Bandai’s New ‘Miximize’ Line

The Gundam Miximize line, debuting at the Shizuoka Hobby Show 2026, offers a fun building experience with customizable action figures. Think of them like Lego’s popular Bionicle line from the 2000s – they’re building sets designed to create highly poseable figures using a minimal number of parts.

These make a great starting point for new fans of the mecha series. Unlike traditional model kits, they don’t require any tools or painstaking detail work. The coolest feature is being able to swap parts between different mecha, similar to how you could with Bionicle toys.

This opens up a world of possibilities for creating unique Gundam robots, and each model includes a small pilot figure that fits inside the cockpit.

To give players more ways to personalize their experience, the first set of playable units will feature Gundams from throughout the franchise’s history. This includes classic designs like the RX-78-2 and Char’s Zaku II from the original Universal Century timeline, as well as the Freedom Gundam from the Cosmic Era.

The new figures will cost about $19 each, but the Universal Century versions will be a bit less, around $18. All three will be available in Japan on September 26, 2026.

I’ve seen the initial releases, but it’s still unclear what other famous robots will be included in this collection, or when it will become available worldwide. Beyond the popular Gunpla model kits, Bandai has been creating figures for their Gundam Universe line, and it feels like they’ve released versions of the RX-78-2 and Char’s Zaku II in just about every possible style and series.
