The adventure-RPG *The Deed*, created by Pilgrim Adventures and GrabTheGames Studios, offered a fresh take on mystery stories when it launched in 2015. Now, for a limited time, you can download *The Deed* on Steam completely free – but don’t wait, as the offer won’t last long!
I’m so excited! From now until Saturday, September 27th at 10 am Pacific, you can download ‘The Deed’ for free on Steam! It’s a really cool game – think ‘Clue,’ but with a twist. Instead of *solving* a murder, you *are* the murderer, and the whole point is to cover your tracks and not get caught. Seriously, it’s a blast!
In this game, you play as Arran Bruce, a man convinced he should inherit his family’s estate, Dunshiel House. His father doesn’t agree and has left everything to Arran’s sister, leading Arran to decide she must die. The method of her death is your choice as the player.
The murder could have been committed with any of ten different weapons, like a rope, a candlestick, or rat poison. Whatever weapon you choose also influences who you decide to blame. You can point suspicion towards the household staff or other family members if you carefully plant enough evidence to make them look guilty.
After Arran’s sister dies and someone is chosen to take the blame, there’s one final step: a police inspector arrives to investigate and question Arran. If the players’ stories don’t match up, the inspector might see through their lies, leading to prison time. The game has different outcomes, and Arran doesn’t necessarily get a happy ending.
Even though The Deed is only free for a limited time, TopMob has put together a list of the best free games currently available on Steam.
