During a vacation in Andorra – a small country located between France and Spain – three women from Taiwan accidentally drove off the road while following the directions on their car’s GPS.
According to local news, the tourists got stuck because they didn’t install their snow chains correctly and disregarded warnings about the risky conditions and difficult roads. They attempted to reach their destination by driving on a path that was known to be blocked.
GPS directions lead tourists straight onto ski slopes in Andorra
The travelers were determined to get back on course and kept following the GPS directions. However, the GPS led them right into a ski resort, and their black Mercedes became stuck in the snow.
On January 6, 2026, at 10:45 AM, emergency services were sent to Bordes d’Envalira, a village close to the Grau Roig ski resort, after receiving reports of a vehicle that had stopped working.
Around 1:30 PM, it took three hours and three cranes to free a car stuck in the snow. Luckily, all three people inside were okay and even snapped a picture of their snow-covered vehicle as a souvenir.

The travelers’ difficult winter experience highlights the risks of driving in bad weather and how mountains can interfere with GPS and other navigation tools.
Road signs can be hidden by snow and ice, and things like ski events or construction can change the usual routes to ski areas.
