Okay, so I just heard that *Ghost of Yotei* had a seriously strong launch here in the UK! It actually took the number one spot on the boxed game charts, knocking *EA Sports FC 26* down. That’s wild, especially since *FC 26* was only at the top for a week. Honestly, it surprised a lot of people – analysts included – because *FC 26* is on pretty much everything, while *Ghost of Yotei* is only on PlayStation 5. It’s cool to see a PS5 exclusive do so well!
However, *Ghost of Yotei* didn’t perform as well as *Ghost of Tsushima*, with its launch being 40% weaker. Industry analyst Christopher Dring, from The Game Business, says this outcome wasn’t unexpected.
Five years is a long time in the gaming world, and a lot has changed with more games being sold digitally. *Ghost of Tsushima* launched near the end of the PlayStation 4’s lifespan, when there were far more PS4 consoles than PS5s. Plus, the first game was released during the pandemic, when people were playing games more than usual. Because of all this, everyone was surprised that the physical copy of *Ghost of Yotei* sold so well, considering how different the market is now.
