Gen V Canceled at Prime Video

Prime Video has cancelled the Boys spinoff, Gen V. The streaming service announced the decision on Friday, about six months after the show’s second season ended.

But the story isn’t over for the characters in Gen V. According to executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg, we’ll see their journeys continue in The Boys and possibly other shows and movies within the Vought Cinematic Universe.

We’re sad to say goodbye to Gen V after one season at Godolkin, but the characters will live on! They’ll appear in Season 5 of The Boys and in future projects within the VCU universe. So, you haven’t seen the last of them.

Gen V Canceled By Prime Video

The show Gen V first launched in 2023 and returned for a second season in September 2025, releasing its initial three episodes all at once. While it initially attracted a significant 424 minutes of viewership, it didn’t maintain that momentum and didn’t reappear in the charts afterward.

As a big fan of the show, I was really disappointed to hear it was ending. It had been getting such great reactions from both critics and viewers! Looking at Rotten Tomatoes, the overall score is a fantastic 94%, and the first season was even higher at 97%. Even the spin-off, Gen V, while not quite as universally loved, still holds a solid 74% positive rating from fans on the site. It’s a real loss!

The show received positive reviews, with many noting how well it connects to The Boys, featuring familiar faces like Starlight and The Deep. Even when Homelander isn’t physically present, his controlling influence looms large, like a powerful parent overseeing his followers as they prepare for a conflict he’s orchestrating. It’s a thrilling start to the season – settle in with some snacks and enjoy the ride!

The show Gen V centers around the students of Godolkin University, a college for young superheroes-in-training who aspire to become members of The Seven. The cast includes Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Hamish Linklater.

The series was created by Goldberg, Kripke, and Craig Rosenberg for Prime Video. They, along with Michele Fazekas (showrunner), Garth Ennis, Darick Robertson, Seth Rogen, James Weaver, Neal H. Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Ken Levin, Jason Netter, Michaela Starr, Ori Marmur, Thomas Schnauz, Steve Boyum, and Brant Engelstein, all served as executive producers. Loreli Alanís, Gabriel Garcia, and Jessica Chou were co-executive producers. Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios collaborated on the production.

What Does Gen V’s Cancellation Mean for The Boys Universe?

With Gen V cancelled, The Boys franchise is at a crossroads. The Boys will conclude after its fifth and final season, leaving fans wondering what comes next.

Currently, the only planned spinoff is a prequel set in the 1950s, focusing on the origins of Soldier Boy (played by Jensen Ackles) and Stormfront (played by Aya Cash). It’s scheduled to premiere in 2027, and fans can expect a hint of the new show during the final season of The Boys.

. However, that show is still far from its premiere.

Gen V is streaming now on Prime Video.
