I was shocked to hear that miHoYo, the company behind Genshin Impact, confirmed four former employees were sentenced to prison. Apparently, it all came down to bribery and embezzlement – really unsettling news for a game I enjoy so much.
I was really surprised to hear that HoYoverse, the team behind games I love like Genshin Impact and Zenless Zone Zero, had to do an internal investigation. They said they were doing it to make sure everything they do is fair, honest, and open – which is good to hear, honestly. It sounds like they’re taking things seriously and want to keep a good environment for everyone involved.
The investigation revealed that four employees misused their jobs to get commissions and accept bribes from companies they worked with.
Four miHoYo employees have been sent to prison
Following a trial, miHoYo announced that four individuals were convicted of taking bribes while working as non-government employees. One person received a sentence of sixteen months in prison, two received fifteen months, and another was sentenced to six months.
miHoYo fired another member of the original Genshin Impact marketing team after discovering he used his position to personally benefit a different company. They described this as a significant conflict of interest.
The company has handed over information about these cases to the police for further investigation.

miHoYo has a strict policy of not tolerating bribery, theft, or any other dishonest behavior. The company states that anyone caught committing these acts will be fired and never allowed to work there again.
The developer stated that any suppliers involved in these cases have been added to a fraud blacklist and will no longer work with the company. MiHoYo also announced they are increasing their efforts to prevent fraud and will work with law enforcement to take legal action against anyone suspected of criminal activity.
