As a huge Pokémon fan, I was so excited to hear about how well Pokémon Legends: Z-A launched! It had the biggest physical sales numbers in the US in over two years – even outselling everything since Tears of the Kingdom! That’s amazing, especially with all the talk about the graphics and how the game runs. The first DLC comes out next week, and okay, it’s $30, but let’s be honest, most of us are already planning to buy it. We got a peek at Mega Zeraora in the last trailer, and now they’ve just revealed Mega Lucario Z! I can’t wait!

Meet Mega Lucario Z and the new Z Mega Evolution mechanic

Mega Lucario Z is a new version of Lucario added in the Mega Dimension downloadable content for Pokémon Legends: Z-A. It’s still a Fighting- and Steel-type Pokémon, but it features a special ability called Z Mega Evolution. While regular Mega Lucario concentrates its aura into one attack, Mega Lucario Z covers its whole body with aura, significantly increasing its defense, movement, and speed. It can also direct this aura into different body parts, such as its fists or legs, to deliver incredibly strong attacks.

Mega Lucario Z’s flowing fur around its head and waist, combined with its distinctive fan-shaped tail, makes it difficult for opponents to follow its actions during battle. This can give it an advantage. It also has steel-like energy reinforcing parts of its body, such as its hands and shins, allowing it to focus its power into surprisingly strong and accurate attacks.

Z-Moves allow Pokémon to react faster to commands, but they drain energy quickly, making them ideal for quick, powerful attacks rather than prolonged battles. Mega Lucario Z will be available when the Mega Dimension DLC is released, adding a flexible new Mega Evolution option for players.
