I just heard some really disappointing news! It looks like Fate/Extra Record is being delayed – there’s no new release date set yet. And to make things worse, Bandai Namco is no longer going to be publishing the Fate/Extra remake. It’s a bummer, and I’m hoping everything gets sorted out soon!
Type-Moon and Bandai Namco first announced plans to remake the game in 2020, with an initial release targeted for 2025. However, on the 15th anniversary of the original Fate/Extra in July 2025, the release date was pushed back to Spring 2026. This latest delay was announced just as the originally planned release season approached.
Type-Moon has confirmed that Fate/Extra Record is still being developed. They are currently looking for a new company to publish the game, and they’ll share details about when it will be released soon.
Here are the official explanations for the delay of Fate/Extra Record, provided by both Type-Moon and Bandai Namco.

Type-Moon’s Announcement
Thank you very much for your patronage on our company’s games as always.
We’ve decided to restructure the development of Fate/Extra Record, originally planned for a Spring 2026 release. After talking with Notes and Bandai Namco Entertainment, and to allow for future growth, we’re also changing the game’s publisher.
Because of recent changes, we’re delaying the release date. Development is ongoing, and we’ll share details about the new publisher and release date as soon as everything is finalized.
We sincerely apologize for the disappointment and inconvenience this has caused those who were excited about the game. We appreciate your understanding.
Bandai Namco’s Announcement
Thank you very much for your patronage on Bandai Namco Entertainment’s products as always.
So, I was really excited about Fate/Extra Record coming to Switch, PS5, PS4, and Steam in Spring 2026, but Bandai Namco just announced they’ve cancelled the release. Honestly, I’m super bummed, and they’ve apologized to all of us who were looking forward to it. It’s a real shame.
We’re canceling all pre-orders made through the Asobi Store. If you paid with Convenience Store Payments, you’ll receive a full refund. Asobi Store will send a separate email with more details to everyone who pre-ordered, so please check your inbox.
We’re sorry for any trouble this has caused and appreciate your understanding.
