Okay, so playing F1 2026 feels exactly how you’d hope – it’s still the enjoyable experience I’ve come to expect from Codemasters. But this isn’t just a simple update with new drivers or car skins. They’ve actually made some real improvements to how the game plays, which is definitely worth checking out.

The biggest improvement to how the game plays is definitely the new Overtake mode. When you’re within one second of the car in front at a specific point on the track, it gives you a significant speed boost for passing. Since DRS won’t be available in 2026, this Overtake mode will be crucial for getting ahead of other racers.

You can still use all the usual ERS settings. Plus, the game now includes helpful assists to manage both your ERS and overtaking, giving you a lot of control just like in the original game.

A new feature called Active Aerodynamics lets you speed up faster in a straight line. While racing, you can change the angle of the front and rear wings to optimize performance for each turn.

The system automatically begins in Cornering Mode, maximizing wing angles for increased downforce and grip. This mode activates whenever you turn, brake, release the throttle, or exit a straightaway.

As a racing fan, I’m really digging the Straight Line Mode! It basically flattens your wings, which cuts down on both downforce and drag, letting you get a serious speed boost on the straights. The catch is, you can’t use it everywhere – it’s limited to certain parts of the track. You switch between modes with the Triangle or Y button, but if you prefer, you can even set an Assist to handle it automatically for you.

The recent gameplay changes have significantly improved the experience. The new Overtake mechanic is particularly enjoyable, adding a strategic layer to battery management. It’s satisfying to conserve energy and then use it at the perfect time to pass opponents.

The car’s active aerodynamics are a nice addition, but you’ll really notice the benefit on tracks with long straightaways. Tracks like Monaco don’t allow you to fully utilize these features. However, both additions are enjoyable and add to the experience.

The new MADRING Circuit is incredibly fun to drive! I immediately tested it out – along with the new Audi car – as soon as the expansion launched. It’s exciting to experience the circuit before the professional drivers do this September. The MADRING offers a nice mix of winding turns and two long straight sections where you can really push the car’s capabilities.

Driving both the Audi and Cadillac cars was a lot of fun. It’s also a nice touch being able to represent those teams when you play Driver Career.

We’ve given each track a small update this year. While things haven’t changed drastically since last year, we did refresh the sponsor advertisements. Even more importantly, we added sensors to detect when players use Overtake and Active Aero features – these additions are necessary because of how those new mechanics work.

Okay, so basically, the F1 2026 Season Pack is huge! It throws in all the latest cars for the ’26 season, a brand new track to learn, and updates all the drivers and existing tracks too. They’ve also added some cool new ways to play, and the best part? I can finally race those futuristic 2026 machines in Career Mode, My Team, and everything else!

The one small drawback is that your progress from the 2025 and 2026 modes won’t carry over – you can’t continue a career save from 2025 into the 2026 season pack. While it likely would have been complicated to allow transfers, it’s not a major issue. It does mean that if you want to experience the new MADRING Circuit in Career mode, you’ll need to begin a completely fresh save.

Codemasters has a point – many players returning to the downloadable content likely haven’t touched their F1 25 career mode recently, and might want a fresh start anyway. If F1 26 had been released instead of this DLC, most people would probably be starting over regardless, so it makes sense.

The biggest drawback of the new Season Pack is that it doesn’t include Co-Op or Challenge Career modes. The developers chose to focus on improvements that would most significantly affect the 2026 gameplay, such as updated regulations, the new race circuit, and the addition of new teams. Therefore, these other modes were left out.

I understand why these changes were made first, but I’m disappointed we lost the Co-Op Career mode. Playing games is often most fun when you can share it with friends, and while split-screen is still available, it’s no longer possible to play a career mode together.

I don’t usually play the online modes, and unfortunately, when the game first came out, you couldn’t use the new 2026 cars in F1 World either. The developers, Codemasters, weren’t able to make them work with that mode due to differences in rules and how the game plays.

Even so, I still really enjoyed the new downloadable content. The game modes I normally play – My Team and Driver Career – work perfectly with the 2026 cars and drivers. If you mostly play by yourself, not having Co-Op Career or F1 World in this expansion probably won’t bother you much.

You’ll still be able to enjoy F1 World and all the regular game modes. Plus, if you bought the 2026 Season Edition, you get everything at a great value.

Most importantly, F1 25 is still genuinely enjoyable to play. The handling feels excellent, and it offers a ton of customization options. You can adjust the difficulty, use driving assists, or opt for a more realistic experience – truly tailoring the game to your preferred style.

Even with a few drawbacks, the F1 25 2026 Season Pack is still enjoyable and worth the cost. Plus, it’s a good sign that Codemasters can now dedicate more effort to developing F1 27.

Graphics & Audio – F1 25 2026 Season Pack Review

The 2026 Season Pack for F1 25 doesn’t change much from the core game experience. As we mentioned in our F1 25 review, we really like how the game looks – the graphics are fantastic. While visuals aren’t everything, F1 25 is definitely a beautiful game.

Even though the game hasn’t received a visual overhaul, it still looks great. The MADRING Circuit has been carefully recreated, and the updated cars and track details contribute to a more realistic experience.

If you don’t already have F1 25, you can get a bundle including both the game and the new DLC with the F1 25 2026 Season Edition.

The game plays much like previous installments in the series, delivering the classic experience fans enjoy. However, the new Overtake mode adds exciting potential for dramatic racing moments. Plus, the updated Active Aerodynamics system is a fun addition that doesn’t disrupt the core gameplay.

However, there are some drawbacks. Most notably, the downloadable content doesn’t offer cooperative career mode for the 2026 seasons, which will disappoint players hoping to team up with friends.
