Akira Yamaoka, the composer famous for his work on the Silent Hill games, is joining the team behind the fast-paced shooter Turbo Overkill for a new horror project. The game, called Total Chaos, is set to release later this year. TopMob is excited to share that Yamaoka is not only involved but has also composed the game’s theme song, “Catharsis,” which you can hear for the first time right here.
Total Chaos started as a fan-made modification for the classic game Doom 2, first appearing in 2018. Now, Trigger Happy Interactive and Apogee Entertainment are completely rebuilding it with a new game engine. Composer Akira Yamaoka is collaborating with the original mod’s musician, Jason Dagenet, to create the game’s soundtrack. Anyone familiar with Silent Hill will instantly recognize Yamaoka’s distinct style in the first track.
This horror game, played from a first-person perspective, features classic survival-horror elements. Players will need to carefully manage limited resources, craft essential items, and face a variety of monsters, each with unique behaviors and ways to attack.
The game’s Steam page says players will follow strange radio signals as they explore the ever-changing Fort Oasis, where the main character will face a troubled history. Fans of Silent Hill will likely appreciate more than just the game’s soundtrack.
Total Chaos doesn’t have a confirmed release date yet, but the developers will share that information soon. The game is still planned to come out in 2025.
