I’m really excited about the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake! One cool feature is being able to name the hero, and a lot of fans like to use the official names from past versions. Since Dragon Quest has been released on so many platforms over the years, it can be tricky remembering what those names are. I was wondering what the Prince of Midenhall has been called in other games, so I put together a guide to help anyone else who’s curious!

Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake protagonist name — does the hero have a canon name?

You’re free to choose any name for the main character in Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake without affecting the story. However, Square Enix has officially referred to the hero as Gawain in promotional materials. Interestingly, an older version of the game, the Dragon Quest II CD Theater, calls the hero Allen.

Okay, so when you start Dragon Quest II HD-2D Remake, you get to name the main hero – I usually go with Gawain or Allen. But the cool thing is, the game automatically gives names to the other characters if you don’t change them. Caradoc is the Prince of Cannock, Peronel’s the Princess of Moonbrooke, and Matilda is the Princess of Cannock. Just thought I’d share that in case you didn’t know!
