More information has been revealed about the upcoming AI-themed comedy film, Bitcoin. The movie will feature Casey Affleck, Pete Davidson, Gal Gadot, and Isla Fisher, and there are hints that some unexpected celebrities will also make appearances.
The upcoming movie Bitcoin will feature digitally created versions of several prominent figures, including Jeff Bezos, Mark Zuckerberg, Vladimir Putin (appearing twice in the original report), Jack Dorsey, and Kim Jong-un. The film centers on a man attempting to prove he invented the cryptocurrency Bitcoin, which puts him in conflict with these tech leaders and heads of state. AI technology is expected to be used to create these portrayals.
Liman’s Bitcoin Satire Film Adds Major Tech Billionaires & World Leaders to Cast
According to Deadline, the show originally used real actors to portray figures like Bezos and Zuckerberg. Those performances will probably be enhanced with AI to make them look and sound more like the actual people, though the specifics haven’t been fully revealed. The actors have already given their permission for these AI adjustments, as stated in earlier casting calls.
Mark Zuckerberg will have the most prominent role in the film. There are hints that Eric Trump will appear promoting a cryptocurrency called “Trump coin,” and reportedly be involved in a scene with a stripper. A depiction of Elon Musk is also expected, but he won’t be part of the AI-generated supporting cast. Because the film is still being made, details could change before its release.
The movie won’t focus much on famous billionaires or world leaders who are getting involved with Bitcoin. Instead, the main story will center around Casey Affleck playing Craig Steven Wright, the Australian computer scientist and businessman, and Pete Davidson as entrepreneur Calvin Ayre. Gal Gadot will star as Charlotte “Lotte” Miller, and Finlay Robinson will play Balthazar Harrington III. Details about other cast members are currently unavailable.
Although AI will be used for minor roles in the film, the legal team is working hard to prevent potential lawsuits. According to Deadline, the movie is being made as a satire, aiming to avoid problems with well-known people who might be depicted in it.
New Bitcoin Film Already Drawing Controversy for AI Usage
Even before revealing its AI-powered cast featuring real people, Liman’s Bitcoin film is already facing some debate. The movie will heavily feature Bitcoin and, instead of filming on location, will use a special process called “markerless performative capture.” Reportedly, filming only took 20 days, and Liman claims the AI technology allowed them to create the film for $70 million – significantly less than the typical $200-300 million budget.
Bitcoin is incorporating artificial intelligence, utilizing a unique AI model developed by Ryan Kavanaugh and Liman’s PECAN animation technology. This AI development is expected to follow guidelines established by Hollywood unions, though the use of generative AI remains a contentious topic for artists and creators across various industries.
Bitcoin does not have a release date at this time.
