A dating app has added a ‘height verification‘ feature, surprisingly, nearly ten years after Tinder initially proposed it as an April Fool’s Day prank.
Dating apps let you use lots of filters and settings to find potential matches. But to really succeed, it’s important to be honest. If you’re not, it will likely become obvious when you meet someone in person.
Many people tend to exaggerate their height by an inch or two when creating online profiles, hoping to attract more potential partners.
Tinder made a playful joke about verifying users’ heights on April Fool’s Day in 2019. Now, a new app has actually turned that joke into a reality.
Tenr has height verification for users to get better dating matches
The new dating app Tenr, which has a small but growing user base, is now letting people confirm their height, according to Mashable.
Adam Moelis, founder of Tenr, explained to Mashable that the app prioritizes honesty and upfront information, and that height is something people genuinely care about. He believes this makes the height-focused feature a fun addition, even though it’s a bit unconventional and not offered on other dating apps.
The report states the app relies on Apple’s Measure app for accuracy, though readings might sometimes be off by about an inch.

Moelis also pointed out that about 700 out of their 6,000 users have confirmed their height, showing it’s not just a small group participating.
Tinder has playfully acknowledged height preferences in the past, and they even let users set those preferences. However, the app doesn’t verify the information provided.
The dating app recently introduced a new feature called Chemistry, which uses AI to help you find more compatible matches. It also lets you use AI to select your best photos from your phone’s camera roll for your profile.
