Lucasfilm has released the official trailer and poster for its new Star Wars animated series, Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, which focuses on the Sith Lord Darth Maul. The show will begin streaming on Disney+ on April 6th with the first two episodes, followed by two new episodes each week. The final two episodes will air on May 4th.
The new series picks up after the events of Star Wars: The Clone Wars. It follows Maul as he tries to rebuild his criminal organization on a planet the Empire hasn’t reached. There, he meets a discouraged young Jedi student who might become his apprentice and help him continue his quest for revenge.

What happens in the Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord trailer?
The new video gives a sneak peek at what’s coming up for the popular villain Darth Maul, after he managed to escape during the events of Order 66. It shows him planning to get revenge on the Empire for betraying him, and he’s looking for a Jedi Padawan to train as his apprentice. The trailer also features exciting action scenes, hinting at plenty of intense lightsaber battles.
Dave Filoni is the creator of Star Wars: Maul – Shadow Lord, building upon the characters originally created by George Lucas. The animated series will again feature Sam Witwer as the voice of Darth Maul, a role he previously played in Filoni’s The Clone Wars and Rebels. The cast also includes Wagner Moura, Gideon Adlon as Devon Izara, Wagner Moura as Brander Lawson, Richard Ayoade as Two-Boots, Dennis Haysbert as Master Eeko-Dio-Daki, Chris Diamantopoulos as Looti Vario, Charlie Bushnell as Rylee Lawson, Vanessa Marshall as Rook Kast, David C. Collins as Spybot, A.J. LoCascio as Marrok, and Steve Blum as Icarus.
Dave Filoni, Athena Yvette Portillo, Matt Michnovetz, Brad Rau, Carrie Beck, Josh Rimes, and Alex Spotswood are the executive producers of the show, with Brad Rau also serving as supervising director. Actor Ray Park and Peter Serafinowicz previously played the main villain in the 1999 film The Phantom Menace, and according to actor Sam Witwer, this new series will reveal previously unseen aspects of that character.
According to Witwer, we’ll discover new sides to this character. He’s developed unexpected qualities that, considering his past experiences, actually make a lot of sense.
