Daredevil skydiver makes record-breaking landing on active volcano

A skydiver from Thailand made history by landing on an active volcano after jumping from a helicopter. This jump set a new world record for the highest altitude skydive landing.

Dr. Tanaboworn Sirikunakornkun, nicknamed “Super Toom”, is a Thai adventurer known for taking on extreme challenges. In 2025, he gained attention for jumping from a record-breaking height for a Thai national and for flying a massive 150-square-meter Thai flag during the jump.

A 48-year-old professor and business owner began skydiving in 2024 and quickly surpassed 1000 jumps. He recently traveled to the border of Chile and Argentina, flying by helicopter over the Ojos del Salado volcano, preparing for a new record attempt.

The daredevil is also an executive in the Thai Parliament

Super Toom chose the Ojos del Salado volcano because he and his team were first drawn to its stunning scenery. They later discovered it was also the world’s highest volcano that’s still active.

Okay, so I just did this insane skydive, jumping from a helicopter and landing on top of a volcano! It was seriously high up – 5,442 meters, or 17,854 feet, to be exact. And the best part? It’s officially a Guinness World Record for the highest altitude landing of a skydive! I’m so stoked they certified it.

He described the view to Guinness World Records as unbelievably beautiful and unlike anything he’d ever experienced. He said the place was truly amazing, explaining that the volcano appeared like a rainbow due to the variety of colorful minerals present.

He shared that his goal is to make the Thai people proud, and that’s why he’s planning to attempt another record – this time in Thailand. He hasn’t said exactly what the record will be, but it’s driven by his love for his country.
