This month, Cyberpunk 2077 is celebrating a big anniversary – it’s been five years since the game first came out! While the initial launch had some issues, particularly on older consoles like PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, many consider it one of the best games of the last ten years, and it deserves a proper celebration.
During a stream in July, CD Projekt Red suggested they had more plans for the game, though they didn’t announce anything concrete. Fans interpreted their comments as a sign they weren’t finished with the game, and that proved to be true with the 2.31 update in September. However, this update might not be the final one.
The official Cyberpunk 2077 account on X has been sharing character birthdays recently. Their latest post was a little different, though – it also announced the game’s 5th anniversary is coming up. This small addition has gotten fans excited about what might be coming next.
This isn’t the only clue we have. Before the 2.3 update came out this year, reports suggested that Virtuos, the studio led by Doug Van Horn that helped develop it, might be working on another expansion for the game. While it might be wishful thinking, revealing it on the game’s anniversary would be ideal.
Right now, these are just guesses, but CD Projekt Red often creates excitement with cryptic announcements. Because the developers are mentioning the game’s anniversary, it seems likely they have a major reveal in the works.
